Weddings at Queen's Cross

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! We are here to help you organise your wedding day and a fitting Christian ceremony, but also to help you focus on the more significant life-long marriage that you hope to share. We all need imagination and encouragement to make our relationships loving and successful.

There are many reasons why couples choose a particular church for their wedding. It may be their parish church or another with which they have strong family associations. It may be because it is convenient for family and guests scattered across the country. Whatever brings you to Queen’s Cross, we hope that the occasion will be a joyful and meaningful one for you and your guests.

If you are considering marriage at Queen’s Cross, we hope the information you find here will be useful as you continue to grow in love and commitment to one another. For full details on booking a wedding at Queen's Cross, please download a copy of our wedding booklet here.

Who can be married in Queen’s Cross Parish Church?

The short answer is anyone, with the agreement of the minister.

What are the legal requirements of marriage?

In Scotland, all couples must lodge wedding notices with a local registrar. Couples should visit the registrar around 3 months before the wedding is due to take place (a shorter time may be allowed by arrangement with the registrar). You should direct any legal queries to the Registrar at Aberdeen City Council, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen.

Can the minister marry us somewhere other than the church?

The Church of Scotland allows ministers to marry outwith the church building but it is up to each individual minister to decide whether this is appropriate or not. Our minister, Scott, would be happy to discuss all possibilities with a couple looking to be married.

What are the costs involved in a church wedding at Queen’s Cross Parish Church?

Normally the couple would pay for the use of the church (to cover heating and lighting), and the services of the organist and church officer. These charges change from time to time, so please contact us for the current charges.
